Author Need To Know…

Congratulations! Writing and publishing your book is quite the achievement. We understand and appreciate the amount of time you have invested in your book, but if you would like to see your publications featured in our store please review our author agreement below and share your contact information through this form.

Due to an increase of books produced by self-published and indie sectors, we are discovering there is a varying level in both written and illustrated quality. Therefore, we request that all books submitted to A New Chapter on consignment meet the following criteria:

● Book(s) must have an ISBN

● Book title and author must be displayed on spine

● Book description must be listed on back of cover or interior flap

● Trade paperback, hardcover, or oversized format

● NO mass market paperbacks, spiral bound or stapled books

A New Chapter agrees to display and offer up to 6 copies of each title(s) listed below for a minimum of one year from the date of signature. The author will provide all copies of the listed titles free of charge and agree that A New Chapter owes no compensation to the author for any unsold titles.

All damaged or stolen items are the sole responsibility of the author.

For all copies sold, A New Chapter will split the proceeds 50% (author) / 50% (bookstore). On hand inventory and sales history will be reviewed the first week of each month. A check will be mailed to the author if a sale occurs.

A New Chapter will collect and pay West Virginia and Lewisburg City sales tax for all titles sold. Any other taxes are the responsibility of the author.

A New Chapter will display and sell all listed titles in a manner that the owner feels is in the best interest of the book’s content and intended audience.

If all copies sell before the end of the one-year term, A New Chapter - at its own discretion - reserves the right to ask the author for additional copies or terminate the consignment agreement. A New Chapter may also elect to renew the consignment agreement at the end of the one-year term based on the author’s discretion.

Whenever the consignment agreement terminates, the author will be asked to retrieve all unsold copies.

A New Chapter does not ship consignment books back to the author.

All unsold copies are to be retrieved from A New Chapter within 30 days of receiving the termination letter. Unclaimed consignment book(s) may be kept, donated, or discarded at the discretion of A New Chapter after the 30-day grace period has ended.

The decision made by the owner of A New Chapter is final. We reserve the right to accept or deny the inclusion of a book(s) if we feel it does not coincide with our store philosophy. Please understand that we aim to provide our readers with the best selection possible based on region, expressed interest, etc. Therefore, we may suggest another retail location that is a better fit.

Events

We understand the challenges of hosting successful book launches, signings, and readings. Our goal is to provide you with a great experience and opportunity to share your book while engaging with readers.

Events are a collaborative effort between the bookstore and the author. A New Chapter will provide the space, event promotion, PA system, and cover city/state tax at no cost to the author(s). In return, the author(s) will provide content and attract readers to their event.

The author(s) will not be directly compensated by A New Chapter for participating in an event.

If the book being featured during the event is available through one of our regular vendors on a returnable basis A New Chapter will purchase copies for the event. If the book being featured during the event is independently published and not available through one of our regular vendors, the author(s) will be expected to provide books for the event. All independently published books sold during the event will be treated as a consignment sale - A New Chapter will split the proceeds 50% (author) / 50% (bookstore).

Scheduling is done on a first come first serve basis and all desired promotional material should be shared in advance for adequate marketing. For information on availability, promotional material, or any other questions regarding events email shaye@newchapterbookswv.com.
