Book Club

Join us as Thursday, December 11th as we discuss The Midnight Library by Matt Haig.

About The Book: Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better? In The Midnight Library, Matt Haig's enchanting blockbuster novel, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision. Faced with the possibility of changing her life for a new one, following a different career, undoing old breakups, realizing her dreams of becoming a glaciologist; she must search within herself as she travels through the Midnight Library to decide what is truly fulfilling in life, and what makes it worth living in the first place.

Often referred to as “Eleanor’s Little Village “Arthurdale, West Virginia was designed to relocate families from the coalfields to

homesteads in rural Preston County.

Championed by Eleanor Roosevelt, she remained involved in and devoted to the community for her entire life.

In Travels with Eleanor in Arthurdale, Fala, the little Scottie dog belonging to President Franklin and his wife Eleanor, stows away in Eleanor’s roadster and a grand backroads adventure begins.

Leaving the White House behind, following country roads, they arrive in a small village in West Virginia, filled with “love, laughter and happily ever after”

The author, Linda Zimmer, is a writer, puppeteer and teaching artist.

She lives in White Sulphur Springs with her husband, cats, and poodles.

The illustrator, Jeanne Brenneman is a signature member of The West Virginia Watercolor Society and a founding member of Greenbrier Artists. She lives in Lewisburg with her forester husband Bruce and their golden doodle, Nutmeg.

Book Signing w/ Alec Neu

Join us November 21 from 5pm to 7pm as we celebrate author Alec Neu!

About The Book:
Follow middle schoolers Ali, Jake, and Noah as they are sent by the Mothman to the utopian city of Huxley on a mission - to convince its citizens to leave their luxurious paradise and return to West Virginia - begging the question: why would anyone choose to come back to a state that is losing more and more people each day?

Along the way, the three friends will visit typical Appalachian towns, run into popular West Virginian cryptids and Native American spirits, and set forth a chain of events that will lead to a final showdown between the region's most popular monsters.

The Great Appalachian Redemption creates a window into the common dilemmas and experiences of the coming-of-age Appalachian and ultimately provides solutions for these popular crises.
